Situated in park-like settings in the centre of Port Elizabeth

Why The Capstone School?

Our Pre-Primary and Primary Schools are situated in park-like settings in the heart of the city
where our pupils can fish, explore and tend to their
 vegetable gardens.

The Capstone School follows a Progresive Teaching Philosophy rooted in Christian values.

Class sizes are small which allow teachers to recognise the unique needs and strengths of each child.

We follow the National Curriculum with a Reggio Emilia inspired teaching philosophy.

Our pupils are encouraged to observe, to question and to think deeply.

Our teachers create environments that stimulate extended exploration, problem solving, cooperation and debate.

We nurture the emotional and self-esteem needs of our pupils and teach them to be good friends.

Children progress at an individualized pace and are assessed on a continuous basis in a non-intrusive manner.

At The Capstone School we create a home away from home where children are happy, are loved and enjoy learning.

Reggio Emilia Inspired

The The National Curriculum for schools is followed, with a Reggio Emilia inspired teaching philosophy. At the heart of the Reggio Emilia philosophy is the image of the child.
Each child is perceived as someone filled with potential, competent, and capable of building their own theories. Testimony of the merits of the Reggio Emilia Philosophy is the fact that our local University has elected to adopt this philosophy for its Foundation Phase Education programme.
